Since 1980, TeamQRT Inc. has specialized in transporting Thomas Built School Buses. We operate differently than traditional driveaway companies by utilizing a group driveaway model. Drivers travel in convoys of 3–5 vehicles, with one driver per bus, moving new school buses from our hub in High Point, NC, to delivery locations across the U.S. and Canada.
As an Independent Contractor, you will drive new school buses in a coordinated group setting. This is an Over-The-Road (OTR) position, not local or regional. You will be responsible for the condition of the vehicle during transport, ensuring timely pick-ups and drop-offs, and maintaining professional conduct throughout the journey.
You will work as part of a team, checking in with a Lead Driver before each trip departs. After completing a delivery, the group travels back together to the pick-up location. While the schedule is flexible, you must complete at least one trip per month to remain active. In-person onboarding is required at our High Point, NC office.
We offer a non-forced dispatch model, allowing you to choose when you want to drive. Expenses for lodging and fuel are covered while you are active on a trip. Transportation is also provided to return you to High Point, NC, from any drop-off location in the U.S. or Canada.
Pay is structured per mile, with a starting rate of $0.38/mile for the drive-back leg and $0.32/mile for the fly-back leg. Drivers delivering to Canada earn an additional $0.02 per mile plus a $125 bonus at the end of the trip. Same-day pay is available if all paperwork is accurate, submitted on time, and no accidents or damages occur. Additional incentives include referral bonuses and clean inspection bonuses.
Applicants must possess a valid Class A or Class B CDL and meet specific experience requirements regarding OTR CMV or School Bus driving within the last three years. A local road test is required for those with spotless reports. All applicants must demonstrate knowledge of DOT Hours of Service rules and be proficient with the MOTIVE app for electronic logging.
Please note that Uber, Lyft, and ride-share driving do not count toward experience requirements. Applicants who have completed a SAP program must be at least 7 years clear of completion to be considered. Any accidents in the last 3 years must be supported by an accident report before the application can be processed.
