About the Team

TeamQRT Group has been delivering Thomas Built School Buses since 1980. As a specialized OTR bus transport company, we operate differently than traditional driveaway firms. Our core mission relies on a collaborative "Group Driveaway" model, where drivers travel in coordinated groups of 3–5, with one driver per vehicle, to deliver buses from our hub in High Point, NC to destinations across the U.S. and Canada.

About the Role

This is an Independent Contractor position focused on transporting new school buses. You will not be a company driver or an owner-operator; instead, you will join a convoy of peers to ensure safe and efficient delivery. The role requires a professional demeanor and the ability to work seamlessly within a team, sharing responsibilities and maintaining strict communication with the Lead Driver before every departure.

While the position is Over-The-Road (OTR) and not local or regional, we offer a unique level of autonomy. As a non-forced dispatch company, you choose when you want to drive. However, to remain active, you must complete at least one trip per month. The job may require staying on the road for multiple days depending on delivery locations, but you will travel back to High Point, NC as a group after completing a delivery.

Benefits & Compensation Context

We provide a comprehensive support structure for our independent contractors. Transportation is fully arranged: you pick up vehicles in High Point, NC, and upon delivery, we arrange your return trip from anywhere in the U.S. or Canada back to the hub. While active on a trip, all lodging and fuel costs are covered.

Pay is structured on a per-mile basis, with same-day pay available if all paperwork is accurate, submitted on time, and no accidents or damages occur. We also offer referral bonuses and clean inspection bonuses. For drivers delivering to Canada, there is an additional incentive of $0.02 per mile plus a $125 bonus at the end of the trip.

Hiring & Application Process

This is an independent contractor role requiring an in-person onboarding session in High Point, NC. Applicants must possess a valid Class A or Class B CDL and meet specific experience thresholds regarding OTR CMV or School Bus driving within the last three years. Drivers must be proficient with DOT Hours of Service rules and capable of maintaining accurate daily logs using the MOTIVE app (paper logs are not accepted).

Candidates must be prepared to provide a relatively clean driving report and employment history. Any accidents in the last three years must be supported by an accident report for processing. Additionally, applicants who have completed a SAP program must be at least seven years clear of completion to be considered. Uber, Lyft, and ride-share driving experience do not count toward the required experience.
