The Traveling Community Manager is a unique on-site leadership position dedicated to managing one or more residential multifamily apartment communities within Pratum's nationwide portfolio. This role is designed to ensure operational excellence and resident satisfaction across multiple locations, with a primary focus on the Washington DC Metropolitan area (including Virginia and Maryland). However, the nature of the position requires overnight travel to any state to provide operational coverage where needed.
This role exists to bridge the gap between corporate strategy and on-the-ground execution, ensuring that affordable housing and rental services are delivered with precision, compliance, and a deep commitment to community engagement. You will be the face of Pratum Companies at the property level, driving sales, managing staff, and fostering a vibrant living environment for residents.
To succeed in this dynamic role, you must reside within 30 minutes of a major mid-Atlantic airport (e.g., DC, MD, VA) and possess reliable transportation. The position demands a high degree of flexibility, requiring availability to work any day of the week, 52 weeks a year, including on-call duties, overtime, and after-hours resident events. You will serve as a critical link in our staffing model, stepping in to support properties where local staffing limitations exist.
Your journey will take you across Pratum's portfolio, managing the day-to-day outreach, sales, and customer service efforts to exceed performance targets. You will lead staffing, training, and development initiatives to build strong property teams while ensuring strict compliance with Fair Housing, Fair Credit Reporting, HR, and Safety Management programs. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to promoting Resident Services initiatives, engaging residents in social, educational, and planned activities that enhance the community experience.
You will also handle the financial backbone of the property, preparing operational financial reports for Regional Property Managers and Corporate Departments. This includes reading budgets, conducting financial analysis, and providing practical narrative reporting. Whether attending owner gatherings in your vicinity or traveling to another state, you will maintain a positive and calm demeanor while navigating challenging situations and communicating effectively with all stakeholders.
Pratum Companies offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $55,000 to $75,000 annually, with potential for discretionary and performance-based bonuses.
