The 3S Comp-Med Stepdown unit is a 29-bed medical stepdown facility specializing in the care of patients with acute myocardial infarction, cardiac arrhythmias, cardiomyopathy, congestive heart failure, and other low-risk cardiac or chest pain diagnoses. As a dedicated stroke unit, all Registered Nurses on this team are certified in the NIH Stroke Scale.
The unit provides comprehensive medical services across cardiology, renal, endocrinology, general medicine, pulmonology, gastroenterology, and oncology. Staff undergo specialized training in non-invasive positive pressure ventilation (Bi-PAP, C-PAP, and A-PAP) and manage complex care including infusion therapy, transfusions, injections, and central line care. Patient care assistants support the team with activities of daily living, point-of-care glucose testing, and 12-lead EKGs.
