About the Position
Mindlance Health is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join the Pre-Op and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS. This 13-week contract role focuses on the critical care of patients undergoing surgical procedures, including Urology, GYN, Endo, Cath lab, and EP cases, as well as outpatient infusions and blood transfusions.
The unit operates with a dedicated team of 8 full-time RNs, 2 part-time RNs, 4 PRN RNs, and 1 Unit Health Unit Coordinator. The environment is designed to prioritize patient experience and seamless communication between staff and providers. The team utilizes modern equipment including Pyxis, GE MACVU EKG machines, Dopplers, bladder scanners, and the Meditech EMR system.
Day in the Life
As a Pre-Op RN, you will manage a patient load with a 1:3 ratio, ensuring thorough preparation for surgery and recovery. Your day will involve assessing patients, coordinating with the surgical team, and managing Phase 2 recoveries for various specialties. The role requires a high level of adaptability, as you will support a diverse range of procedures from pre-operative holding to post-operative care. On-call duties are required, with a 30-minute response time expectation.
Hiring Process & Requirements
Candidates must possess a minimum of one year of current acute care Pre-Op RN experience. Essential certifications include BLS and ACLS. To proceed with onboarding, selected candidates must successfully complete the Pre-Op RN Exam and the Pre-Operative RN Skills Checklist. Prior experience with Meditech is preferred, as is a background in preoperative care.
