Travel Nurse RN - Operating Room

About the Position

This 14-week contract opportunity is for a Registered Nurse to join the Operating Room team in Lexington, KY. The role is designed for professionals with a strong background in surgical specialties, specifically requiring experience in Total Joints, Ortho Spine, Gynecology, and Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS). Staff members will be expected to work across a variety of specialty areas within the facility.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

The schedule consists of 8-hour day shifts over 5 days a week. A key component of this role involves an on-call policy with a 40-minute response time. Weekday call coverage runs from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, while weekend call coverage spans from 7:00 AM Saturday to 7:00 AM Monday. A rotating list is utilized to assign call duties; the first six weeks of the contract typically include 2-3 weekday calls, followed by one weekend call in the subsequent six-week period.

Candidates may be required to float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals. Compliance with specific requirements is mandatory, including BLS certification, a Basic Math exam, an OR Competency exam, and a No-Medication exam.

Applicants must hold a Compact or state license at the time of submission. Local travelers residing within 100 miles of the facility are not accepted for this position. The agency will verify rehire eligibility weekly, and any history of prior employment at this specific facility must be disclosed, as it can affect traveler status. Additionally, a return staff policy requires a 6-month absence before a traveler can return to this facility. Licensure hits are not accepted for this contract.
