TravelNurseSource is partnering with Cynet Health to recruit a Registered Nurse for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Salem, Oregon. This 13-week contract offers a dynamic opportunity to work within a short-term acute care facility housing 569 staffed beds. The role is designed for experienced clinicians ready to manage complex patient needs across adult inpatient units, with potential floating requirements to support various departments as facility needs dictate.
As a PCU RN, you will manage patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:6, overseeing care for a diverse range of diagnoses including cardiac events, CVA, and patients requiring isolation precautions. The position demands strong proficiency in telemetry interpretation, cardiac rhythm management, and the administration of cardiac drips. You will be responsible for non-invasive airway management, chest tube care, and the activation of rapid response teams when necessary.
The facility utilizes Epic for charting and requires a high level of autonomy in skills such as BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, and PICC line maintenance. While the primary focus is the PCU, the role includes floating to other adult inpatient units to ensure comprehensive patient care support. This environment challenges nurses to adapt quickly to new workflows while contributing fresh perspectives to improve patient safety and care quality.
To be considered for this assignment, candidates must possess an active Oregon RN license (pending licenses are accepted) and hold current BLS and ACLS certifications. Applicants must demonstrate at least one year of recent experience in PCU or IMC settings; first-time travelers are not accepted for this position. The onboarding process includes completing mandatory modules on pharmacology and a specialty exam, alongside a skills checklist verification.
Please note that former employees of the facility must wait six months after termination before reapplying for temporary positions. This role is open to local candidates and accommodates specific scheduling needs where possible, though block schedules are not available for this assignment.
