TravelNurseSource is partnering with Prime Staffing to connect qualified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurses with a dynamic healthcare facility in Winston Salem, North Carolina. About the Role

This 13-week contract position is based on the Night shift (3 days x 12 hours) within a busy Medical-Surgical unit. The role involves caring for a diverse patient population including adults and geriatrics, managing conditions such as diabetes, dementia, COPD, sepsis, and various surgical recovery cases. The unit operates with a patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:6 and requires staff to be versatile, capable of handling telemetry monitoring, rapid response situations, and complex procedures like IV insulin protocols, central line management, and wound care.

Contract staff are expected to be flexible, participating in a "Storm Team" or "Hurricane Team" and potentially reporting during catastrophic events or mass casualties. The unit may also undergo consolidation to a centralized office mid-contract, requiring staff to adapt to preassigned units as needed. The environment is fast-paced, with a daily census of approximately 39 patients across 43 beds, supported by interdisciplinary teams including IV specialists, respiratory services, and pharmacy.

Hiring & Application Process

Candidates must complete specific compliance steps immediately upon signing. All required testing must be completed within 48 hours of signing, and candidates must report to the lab within this window. The facility utilizes Clinical for direct profile review, and references may be pending at the time of submission.

Important Submission Guidelines:

• Former Employees: Former Novant/New Hanover employees (PERM/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying and must disclose facility name and dates of employment.
• Current Status: Current travel Per Diem clinicians are not eligible for travel contracts and must choose a different status.
• Local Candidates: Candidates within 50 miles are subject to a lower rate.
• Licensure: NC or Compact license pending is acceptable for submission.
• Time Off: Up to 7 days of Requested Time Off (RTO) is auto-approved (excluding holidays), but no RTO is allowed during the first week. Additional RTO cannot be requested after signing.
• Orientation: A 24-hour unit orientation is required, plus a full week of hospital orientation where travelers must attend daily classes.
