About the Role

This opportunity places you in a dynamic Level I Trauma Center and Magnet hospital in Springfield, Illinois. You will join the only dedicated IMC (Intensive Care) unit in the facility, which serves as a high-acuity hub for all patient types. The unit is known for its fast-paced environment and high patient throughput, offering a unique challenge for experienced critical care professionals.

As an ICU RN, you will manage a diverse caseload including complex cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and trauma cases. The role requires versatility, as you will float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities to meet patient needs. You will work alongside a robust interdisciplinary team including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, and Rapid Response Teams. The unit operates with a 1:4 patient ratio, and while a charge nurse role is available, the team is designed to support high-volume care efficiently.

Hiring Process & Application

Please note that a valid Illinois nursing license is required at the time of submission; pending licenses are not accepted for this role. Candidates must also be prepared to complete compliance requirements, including lab appointments, Docusigns, and badge photos, within one week of signing the contract.

The first day of the assignment is a virtual at-home orientation day. Candidates must check for and complete additional compliance modules by 4 PM CST on Day 1. For those with prior permanent or PRN experience at the facility, a 12-month separation is required before applying as a traveler. Local candidates are accepted, provided they are not within the restricted radius for this specialty.
