About the Role

Prime Staffing is seeking a Travel Nurse RN for a Med Surg position in Beaufort, South Carolina. This role supports a 29-bed general surgical and ortho unit with medical overflow. The unit primarily handles surgical and orthopedic diagnoses, including total joint replacements, spinal fusions, and various abdominal surgeries, alongside medical conditions such as pneumonia, DVT, and PE.

This is a day shift position (07:00 - 19:00) requiring 36 hours per week over a 13-week contract. The unit operates with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 6. Candidates must be comfortable with high patient-to-care ratios and frequent floating within the hospital, as the facility has a high volume of floating requirements. Travelers will float to the PCU unit as needed.

The facility does not accept travelers living within 50 miles of the location. While first-time travelers are accepted, candidates must already hold a valid South Carolina license. The role involves managing complex patient needs including IV starts, chest tubes, wound vacs, feeding tubes, and PICC lines. The EMR system used is Meditech.

Hiring Process & Application Instructions

To be considered for this assignment, candidates must submit a valid South Carolina license and meet all compliance requirements prior to the assignment start. Submittals must include any required Return to Work (RTO) history; if RTO is not discussed in the interview or included in the submittal, it will not be approved. Candidates must have been in good standing at their previous departure and must have been away from the facility for at least one year if returning.

Candidates must be comfortable with the floating policy and the specific unit profile. Modules (average 8 hours) are non-billable and must be completed pre-start or during orientation. References are not required with the initial submission but will be required during the compliance phase.
