About the Role
Bowhead is seeking a dynamic Transportation Operations Manager to support logistics operations at Fort Carson, Colorado. This role serves as the administrative and operational leader for the Transportation Department within the Fort Carson Contracting and Operations (FCCO) program, ensuring the seamless execution of maintenance, supply, and transportation functions.
You will lead the Installation Transportation Division (ITD), a critical component of the Logistics Readiness Center (LRC) alongside Plans and Operations, Materiel Maintenance, and Installation Supply & Services. Your mission is to provide oversight for all transportation, Motor Pool, and freight operations, ensuring they are delivered in a cost-effective and efficient manner that meets or exceeds Army standards of quality and excellence.
In this position, you will manage the day-to-day operations of the installation transportation effort, from scheduling and dispatching to vehicle maintenance and driver qualification. You will act as a bridge between upper management and the technical team, fostering a cohesive environment through effective communication, coaching, and performance feedback. Your work will directly impact the delivery of services to installation tenants and organizations, requiring you to analyze operational problems and develop timely, economical solutions.
Work Environment
This is an on-site role located at Fort Carson. The work environment is a hybrid of office settings and non-office facilities, including maintenance, supply, and transportation yards. The role requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, protective-toe footwear, gloves, and hearing protection. You should be prepared for physical demands including lifting up to 50 pounds, prolonged standing, and exposure to high noise levels, heat, cold, dust, and fumes.
