Irvine Ranch Water District (IRWD) is a progressive, values-driven agency with an international reputation for leading-edge financial management, water recycling, and energy generation. Established in 1961, IRWD is an independent, not-for-profit public agency serving central Orange County. Governed by a publicly elected five-member Board of Directors, the District provides high-quality drinking water, reliable sewage collection and treatment, and environmentally sound urban runoff solutions.
IRWD's values drive the character, culture, and capacity of our organization. We weave these principles into the fabric of everything we do, pledging to keep them relevant in an ever-changing world. Our employees enjoy working in a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment where strong bonds are formed with fellow team members. To ensure effective communication and promote a collaborative team environment, employees report to work each day in the office or in the field, depending on their positions.
We are seeking a Temporary Office Specialist to join the Purchasing Department. In this role, you will plan, organize, and perform a variety of clerical duties, including research, records retention, and special projects. You will serve as a key point of contact, answering department phone lines, routing calls, and responding to inquiries from customers. This position is 100% in-office, requiring full-time presence at our Operations office.
As a Disaster Service Worker, IRWD employees may be asked to respond accordingly in the event of a disaster, in accordance with Government Code Section 3100.
All applicants are required to complete and submit a District application form online and answer the supplemental questionnaire. Stating "See Resume" is not an acceptable substitute, and resumes or faxed copies will not be accepted in lieu of the online application. New users must create an account first via the Online Employment Application Guide.
Applications will be reviewed by the Human Resources Department and subject matter experts. Those possessing the most pertinent qualifications will be invited to continue in the selection process, which includes an in-person Oral Interview Examination to assess experiences, qualifications, and interpersonal communication skills.
Communication regarding your application status will be sent to the email address listed on your application. Please check your email regularly throughout the recruitment process.
