In this specialized position, you will serve as the first point of contact for emergency and routine inquiries, ensuring that every call is handled with professionalism, clarity, and urgency. This role is critical to the safety of the community, requiring you to coordinate police dispatch, manage complex records, and provide administrative support to the department.
Your day will be a dynamic mix of high-pressure decision-making and detailed administrative work. You will receive 911 emergency calls and personal requests for assistance, quickly assessing situations to dispatch officers to the appropriate locations. Beyond dispatching, you will operate advanced computer systems to access driver histories, vehicle registrations, and criminal records, while maintaining accurate logs of all police events and communications. The role also involves monitoring security cameras, conducting welfare checks on senior citizens, and providing direct assistance to the public who visit the center in person.
As a member of the team, you will also contribute to the department's operational efficiency by assisting with budget preparation, training new telecommunicators, and maintaining the hardware and software of the communications division. Whether managing the flow of radio traffic or ensuring the dispatch office remains organized, your work ensures the Town's police force operates smoothly and effectively.
