About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled, results-oriented Director of Communications to oversee the operational management and strategic development of our IAED-accredited Communication Center. This high-volume dispatch center handles over 130,000 calls per year in a high-traffic urban setting, managing both 911 and Inter-facility Transfer (IFT)/Discharge calls.
In this role, you will ensure the highest standards of efficiency, performance, and compliance in all dispatch and call-taking operations. You will drive continuous improvement in response times and resource allocation, serving as a proven leader with deep experience in a high-volume EMS environment. Your day-to-day will involve ensuring 24/7 operational oversight, managing critical technology systems like Traumasoft CAD, and fostering a "Just Culture" that balances accountability with constructive feedback.

Key Responsibilities

- check_circleEstablish and maintain a robust Quality Assurance program to ensure departmental compliance
- check_circleDevelop and maintain a comprehensive training system including certified Dispatch Training Officers
- check_circleAnalyze metrics using Microsoft Power BI and Firstwatch to provide feedback to departments
- check_circleReview and update ambulance dispatch policies and procedures for efficient operations
- check_circleCoordinate with Scheduling to create or adjust positions to maintain adequate staffing levels
- check_circleParticipate in the review and interviewing process for all potential candidates with HR
- check_circleManage Traumasoft CAD, phone systems, and tools for monitoring personnel and fleet activity
Requirements
- verifiedPrior experience within a high-call-volume Communications Center
- verifiedEmergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) Certified
- verifiedExperience with Traumasoft CAD and other related systems
- verifiedCurrent EMS licensure (Any Level) (Preferred)
- verifiedPrior experience in an EMS setting that operates both 911 and private call services (Preferred)
