This position utilizes specialized laboratory skills to perform and report results of clearly defined laboratory procedures, ensuring optimal patient outcomes. The role is critical to the accuracy and timeliness of diagnostic testing, requiring strict adherence to assigned shifts and flexibility for overtime or call-back duties as needed.
In this role, you will receive, identify, organize, and prioritize specimens to ensure accurate and timely test processing. Your daily workflow involves performing requested laboratory procedures, conducting quality control and proficiency testing, and managing routine instrument maintenance and inventory control. A key focus of the position is evaluating positive patient identification to significantly reduce analytical and post-analytical errors, thereby preventing adverse patient outcomes.
Beyond technical execution, you will be expected to assess data, evaluate results, and draw appropriate clinical conclusions. The role also supports a culture of lifelong learning and includes the opportunity to provide instruction for personnel and medical technology students as required.
