About the Mission

Grand Rapids Public Schools (GRPS) is dedicated to ensuring that all scholars are educated, self-directed, and productive members of society. We strive to create an environment where every student can thrive academically and socially.

About the Role

As a Special Education Teacher, you will serve as a vital case manager for scholars with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Your role involves planning instruction and adapting the curriculum to accommodate diverse learning needs, ensuring scholars progress within the least restrictive environment. You will function as a collaborative partner with general education teachers, service providers, and families to implement behavior support plans and drive student success.

This position requires a dynamic educator who can differentiate instruction to inspire mixed-ability classes and create challenging, engaging learning opportunities. You will be responsible for documenting scholar progress, managing compliance, and integrating technology to support the district's Academic Plan. Beyond the classroom, you will act as a role model, fostering positive relationships with parents, colleagues, and the wider community through regular communication and active participation in school initiatives like Response to Intervention (RtI) and Positive Behavior Support (PBIS).

Application & Hiring Process

The Grand Rapids Public Schools is committed to a fair and inclusive hiring process. If you require assistance with the application process, please contact the Human Resources Department at (616) 819-2022 or via email at humanresources@grps.org.

Equal Opportunity Employer

Grand Rapids Public Schools does not discriminate against any person based on race, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity and expression, height, weight, color, religion, national origin, age, marital status, pregnancy, disability, veteran status, or military status. We welcome applications from all qualified individuals.
