The Classroom Teacher plays a pivotal role in providing direct, individualized instruction tailored to each student's IEP goals and objectives. Aligned with New York Learning Standards, the position focuses on academic growth while simultaneously fostering social skills and maintaining a safe, disciplined classroom environment. This role is deeply collaborative, requiring close partnership with a multidisciplinary team including milieu therapists, social workers, parents, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive education and treatment for every child.
Teachers are responsible for tracking and communicating student progress through quarterly IEP reviews, daily computer logs, Planning Conferences, and report card issuance. The position operates within a 10-month school year framework, complemented by a 6-week summer program. Daily hours run from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with one designated staff conference day extending until 5:00 PM.
