The Department of Radiology is seeking a System Architect to lead the team responsible for the maintenance and evolution of our Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). This role is central to ensuring seamless image workflow, archiving, auto-routing, diagnostic viewing, and prefetching across the institution. Beyond PACS, you will oversee various other Radiology IT-related platforms and manage the critical integration of imaging systems from other departments into the core PACS architecture.
In this position, you will serve as the technical expert for the Department of Radiology, leading project development and implementation while managing the PACS team. You will be responsible for developing the departmental roadmap for upgrading and replacing IT platforms, overseeing disaster recovery plans, and managing vendor relationships to ensure security and operational excellence. This role requires a blend of strategic leadership and hands-on technical oversight to support the daily operations of a fast-paced, customer-service-oriented environment.

Working knowledge and experience of PACS (picture archiving and communication system) operation and technology. Working knowledge of Microsoft Server Operating Systems. Knowledge of medical terminology. Experience working in a healthcare environment. Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and/or within a team environment. Knowledge of University of Iowa Policies and Procedures.
