You will join the Advanced Programs Lab (APL) system administration team, providing critical support to the 96th Cyberspace Test Group, 46th Test Squadron, and the Tactical Data Links Test Flight at Eglin AFB. In this position, you will serve as a key member of a specialized team responsible for the functionality and performance of lab hardware and software systems, including offline platform IT and prototype environments.
Your day-to-day work involves a blend of hands-on system administration and strategic security compliance. You will troubleshoot complex desktop and server issues, manage user accounts and file permissions, and perform hardware diagnostic testing on offline equipment. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to maintaining a high-security posture by executing regular Nessus security scans, applying system patches, and ensuring strict adherence to Defense Information System Agency (DISA) guidelines, USAF security updates, and cybersecurity policies across Windows and Linux operating systems.
Beyond technical execution, you will drive process improvement by developing and documenting standard operating procedures, performing program scripting in PowerShell for system automation, and supporting Defense Test and Evaluation (DT&E) enclave assessments. This role requires a self-starter who thrives in ambiguous environments, capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve unusual issues and bring energy and curiosity to complex challenges.
