Our client is seeking an immediate Survey Manager to lead critical survey projects in Escondido, California. This role serves as the operational bridge between project requirements and field execution, ensuring that complex initiatives involving construction, mapmaking, land division, titles, and mining are delivered on time and within budget.
As the Survey Manager, you will orchestrate the daily rhythm of the survey team. You will review project scopes, develop comprehensive surveying plans, and define the objectives and methods required for accurate data collection. Working closely with the Survey Party Chief, you will communicate duties to the field team, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary tools and support to perform tasks safely and efficiently. Your day involves constant collaboration with engineering, construction, and other field employees to assess and fulfill evolving survey needs, while also consulting with external contractors and vendors on technical matters.
Beyond technical execution, this position carries significant leadership responsibilities. You will be instrumental in building and maintaining the team by recruiting, hiring, and training staff. You will evaluate performance, manage promotions and transfers, and handle disciplinary actions as needed. A key part of your role is translating complex field data into clear insights; you will prepare and present survey reports, maps, and data visualizations for client review and project documentation, keeping all stakeholders informed on daily operations and project updates.
