As a Fleet Maintenance Lead at FedEx Freight, you will manage fleet maintenance personnel, activities, and equipment readiness at either a small shop location or a specific shift within a large facility. Your primary mission is to ensure equipment repairs are completed with high quality and timeliness while fostering a safe and efficient working environment.
In this role, you will lead, educate, and develop your team, monitoring performance and providing corrective action as needed. You will plan daily staffing to meet fluctuating workloads and serve as a key support resource for the Operations team regarding all equipment-related issues. Your day-to-day involves conducting pre-shift meetings with employees and weekly meetings with the Operations team to align on goals and address challenges.
You will also collaborate with Safety and other departments to investigate safety and accident-related matters, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. Administrative responsibilities include payroll approval, scanner downloads, repair order maintenance, and compliance documentation such as self-audits and inventory controls. Additionally, you will identify and monitor equipment sent to outside vendors for repairs and communicate with Fleet Maintenance leadership to ensure both operational and company needs are met.
This position requires exposure to a dynamic industrial environment. You may encounter heavy traffic areas, considerable amounts of dust, diesel fumes, and noise. The role involves exposure to climate conditions specific to the geographic area, as well as chemicals, oils, greases, and other irritants. Hours may vary to meet operational needs, and travel may be required as necessary.
