As a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor at FedEx Freight, you will manage fleet maintenance personnel, activities, and equipment readiness at either a small shop location or a specific shift within a large facility. Your primary mission is to lead, educate, and develop your team to ensure equipment repairs are completed with high quality and timeliness. You will serve as the bridge between daily operations and fleet maintenance leadership, ensuring that company needs and operational goals are met seamlessly.
In this role, you will plan daily staffing to match workload demands, monitor employee performance, and provide necessary corrective action. You will be accessible to all areas of the shop, conducting pre-shift meetings with employees and weekly meetings with the Operations team. Your day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with Safety and other departments to investigate accidents, communicating with leadership regarding equipment issues, and ensuring a clean, safe working environment for the facility and equipment.
You will also handle essential administrative functions, such as payroll approval, scanner downloads, repair order maintenance, and compliance documentation like self-audits and inventory controls. Additionally, you will identify and monitor equipment sent to outside vendors for repairs while continuously analyzing opportunities to cut costs and improve efficiencies.
This position requires the ability to travel as needed and involves exposure to heavy traffic areas, considerable amounts of dust, diesel fumes, and noise. You will also be exposed to climate conditions of the geographic area, as well as chemicals, oils, greases, and other irritants. Hours may vary due to operational needs.
