This position serves as the leader of the Engineering Flight, responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing all flight activities. The role integrates program development, project design, construction management, and technical support to ensure alignment with the Base Comprehensive Asset Management Plan (BCAMP) and Base Activity Management Plan (BAMP). As a supervisory leader, you will direct and coordinate work through subordinate supervisors, representing the Engineering Flight across various installation and functional area organizations.
This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical Function, designed to continue uninterrupted during emergencies and through the full resumption of all functions. The role requires the ability to analyze, plan, and direct work operations to meet program objectives while mentoring, motivating, and appraising staff. You will also evaluate state-of-the-art scientific and engineering technologies to incorporate into the planning, design, operation, maintenance, repair, and upgrade of installation natural and built infrastructure.
This is a Centrally Managed Position within the Civil Engineering Career Field and is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance and will be subject to initial and periodic short-notice drug testing.
The position requires U.S. Citizenship and, for males, registration with the Selective Service. A current professional registration or license as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect in one of the 50 states or territories is a mandatory Selective Placement Factor. The role involves occasional travel on military and/or commercial aircraft and requires the ability to drive a motor vehicle with a valid license.
Selected candidates may be subject to a 1-year supervisory probationary period if they have not previously met this requirement. Additionally, depending on the position type, a 1-year probationary or 2-year trial period may apply, requiring certification of continued employment that advances the public interest upon completion.
Applicants must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, General Engineering Series 0801. To qualify, you must possess a degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program or demonstrate equivalent education and experience through specific coursework, professional registration, or a related curriculum with professional supervision.
