Reporting to the Planning Yard Design Section Manager, this position serves as the operational leader for the 1st shift design team. The role is critical to the execution of the DDG 51 Planning Yard contract, ensuring the delivery of superior Life Cycle Services for multiple ships in the fleet. Operating under the BIW Business Operating System (BOS), the incumbent acts as the bridge between strategic contract requirements and day-to-day design execution, overseeing both 3D and 2D deliverables.
This is a dynamic leadership role within a fast-paced, rapid-response technical environment. The day-to-day rhythm involves managing workforce performance, resource utilization, and schedule fidelity through the Plan of the Week (POW) process. The role demands active engagement with the tiered muster system to elevate issues, foster collaboration across engineering, planning, and external customers, and champion continuous improvement initiatives like A3 root cause analysis.
Candidates must be US Citizens and possess the ability to obtain a government security clearance. An interim security clearance must be obtainable within the first 45 days of hire. For details on the clearance process, please refer to the DCSA website.
