The Department of Special Education at Nassau BOCES is seeking Substitute Teaching Assistants to support classroom teachers in pedagogical and classroom management tasks. This role is vital for ensuring continuity of care and instruction, particularly in the absence of the primary classroom teacher.
As a Substitute Teaching Assistant, you will work directly with individual students or groups on special instructional projects. Your day-to-day involves collecting student data, monitoring progress toward Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, and assisting students in utilizing instructional resources. You will also help develop instructional materials and provide the classroom teacher with critical insights to shape appropriate learning experiences.
Candidates must hold New York State Education Department Certification (Teaching Assistant Level I, II, or III) or a New York State Teacher Certification in Special Education. Applications should be submitted with a focus on experience working with special education students and effective communication skills.
