Connecticut Institute for Communities Inc (CIFC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for families and individuals across Connecticut. Our mission drives us to advance health equity, community empowerment, and comprehensive social services through integrated healthcare, education, and residential programs.
The Infant / Toddler CDA Specialist is a mission-driven position within our Education, Training & E‑Learning department. This role serves as a content expert and coach for staff working with children from birth to age three in center-based programs. You will play a key part in strengthening classroom practice, promoting school readiness, and supporting the Infant/Toddler CDA credentialing process.
In this position, you will guide teachers and assistant teachers as they work toward earning and maintaining their credentials. Your day will involve providing individualized coaching and mentoring, modeling best practices in the classroom, and supporting staff in compiling portfolios, writing competency statements, and preparing for CDA assessments. Using a strengths-based approach, you will conduct regular classroom observations to assess teacher-child interactions, learning environments, and health and safety practices, offering constructive feedback to enhance curriculum planning and responsive caregiving.
Beyond direct coaching, you will develop and deliver training sessions on topics such as trauma-informed care, social-emotional learning, and culturally responsive practice. By supporting teachers in partnering with families, you will help build strong home-school relationships and connect families to community resources. This role requires close collaboration with education managers and program leadership to ensure classroom practices align with CIFC’s educational framework, state licensing regulations, and Head Start/Early Head Start performance standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced early childhood professional passionate about mentoring educators and improving outcomes for very young children. By joining CIFC, you will work in a dynamic, supportive environment where your expertise helps empower local families and contributes directly to the wellbeing and future success of children in our community. You will participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and community initiatives that promote health equity and comprehensive services.
CIFC is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and community empowerment in all aspects of our work. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background and strive to create an environment where every team member and family we serve feels valued and supported.
