About the Role
As a Substitute School Nurse for USD #264, you will serve as a vital link in maintaining, promoting, and improving the physical, emotional, and social health of school-age children. This position is designed to support the district's vision by ensuring a safe and healthy environment for students and staff. You will work closely with administration, principals, counselors, and the local medical community to coordinate the efficient operation of the district's health program.
In this role, you will act as a resource for health education and a first point of contact for student injuries and health concerns. Your day will involve administering first aid, dispensing medication according to strict policies, and conducting essential screenings such as vision, hearing, and scoliosis checks. You will also manage immunization audits, maintain confidential health records, and provide training on blood-borne pathogens to district staff. The position requires the ability to adapt quickly to frequent interruptions and changing priorities while maintaining a friendly, courteous, and professional demeanor with patrons, teachers, and students.
