The Stanford Neurosciences Interdepartmental Graduate Program (IDP) is one of the largest programs within the School of Medicine, uniting approximately 80 graduate students and 125 affiliated faculty across the Schools of Medicine, Engineering, Humanities & Sciences, and the Wu Tsai Neurosciences Institute. Our signature feature is the dynamic combination of outstanding faculty researchers and bright, energetic students within a community deeply committed to understanding the nervous system at all its levels of function.
The primary goal of our program is to train the next generation of leaders in neuroscience research, education, and outreach. We foster an environment where graduates emerge as innovators, investigators, and teachers whose pursuits are firmly founded on rigorous research.
As a Student Services Officer 2, you will serve as a critical partner to program leadership and staff, ensuring student success and driving program excellence. This 100% FTE, continuing position is based on the Stanford campus and is hybrid-eligible, subject to operational needs.
In this role, you will be the primary resource for our diverse graduate student population, administering and interpreting university and department policies regarding admission, financial aid, housing, registrar services, visa compliance, student life, and academic advising. You will identify, clarify, and resolve complex, high-visibility issues that span multiple areas, utilizing advanced technical and professional knowledge to exercise independent judgment.
Your day-to-day impact involves counseling students and parents on sensitive matters, mediating complex program issues, and resolving multi-dimensional crises. You will analyze data from diverse sources to prepare management reports, develop outreach plans, and serve as a subject matter expert representing the department at university and external meetings. The ideal candidate is proactive, customer-focused, and capable of working with a high degree of autonomy to manage concurrent projects of varying complexity.
