The publication reaches its audience through online distribution at www.thenorthernlight.org and print editions distributed across the campus and local community.
As a Student Reporter, you will write stories covering news, features, arts and entertainment, or sports. This role offers a unique opportunity to learn about publishing and the news media, with access to industry professionals, professional equipment, and chances to submit material for awards. Much of the work can be done remotely, requiring strong communication and time management skills. You will collaborate closely with editors, attend events, interview subjects, and develop interesting story ideas while maintaining a high standard of detail to ensure accurate reporting.
This is a pooled position, meaning applications are reviewed as needed rather than on a rolling basis. Submission of an application does not guarantee a review or a job offer. If you have questions regarding the position, please contact Cheryl Devenny at crdevenny@alaska.edu.
