The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) is responsible for managing and protecting the state’s renewable natural resources, including all wildlife and aquatic life. The department supports a strong work ethic in its employees and incorporates the use of good science, accurate information, and technology. The Office of the Secretary provides leadership, support services, administrative direction, and accountability for departmental programs, ensuring the success of subordinate programs and facilitating department-wide coordination.
The Student Employment program within the Office of Fisheries is designed to employ students at the graduate and undergraduate levels in fields of study beneficial to LDWF, while providing students with challenging work experience. This role offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic environment that values integrity, punctuality, and a positive attitude.
Student workers are not required to pursue an education in a curriculum directly related to the specific office in which they will be working. However, students must be currently enrolled full-time in an accredited educational institution and maintain enrollment while employed. Students can work up to 20 hours per week. Verification of enrollment from the University is required upon hire. Note that students do not need to be registered during summer sessions to qualify for student status; however, if graduating in the spring semester, proof of enrollment for the fall semester must be received to continue employment.
