As a Structures Liaison Engineer within the Engineering department, you serve as the critical bridge between Kalitta Air's internal operations and external regulatory and manufacturing entities. Your primary mission is to ensure the structural integrity and airworthiness of the fleet by managing the development and approval of Engineering Orders (EOs) and Engineering Analyses (EAs) for maintenance, repair, and modification activities.
In this role, you will navigate the complexities of 14 CFR requirements to classify repairs as major or minor, ensuring all modifications receive necessary regulatory approvals. You will act as the central point of contact for manufacturers, MRO facilities, outside engineering departments, and the FAA DER Engineers, coordinating technical support across Technical Services, Ground Operations, and Flight Operations on a 24/7 basis.
Your day-to-day involves analyzing in-service defect data to develop corrective action plans, updating manufacturer manuals for accuracy, and participating in industry working groups to stay ahead of regulatory changes. You will be responsible for driving product improvement modifications and ensuring all engineering documentation is delivered within strict schedules, providing clear status reports to management on project progress and compliance.
