About the Role

The Structural Mechanic II in GAC Savannah operates within a team-oriented production environment, performing a variety of structural assembly operations under minimal supervision. This role is critical to ensuring that all aircraft structures meet rigorous company design specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations.

In this position, you will be responsible for the safe assembly, fitting, and fabrication of detail parts and structures. Your day-to-day activities involve reading work orders, blueprints, lofts, and sketches to determine operation sequences and hole patterns. You will utilize various tools, including portable riveting guns, pneumatic drills, and reamers, to perform drilling, riveting, and sheetmetal layout tasks. A key aspect of the role is ensuring a defect-free assembly prior to final inspection, utilizing jigs, fixtures, and clamps to align and assemble complex angles and configurations according to blueprint specifications.

You will also be expected to maintain accurate logs and records, such as MIR sheets and DMTs, and perform necessary rework to ensure installations meet conformity. The role requires active participation in continuous improvement activities, such as Kaizen events, and adherence to the company's 5S Program to maintain a neat and orderly work area. Additionally, you will coordinate work activities between shifts through turnover report meetings and direct contact with leadership to ensure seamless operations.

Hiring Process

Candidates must possess strong blueprint interpretation skills and the ability to work any shift. The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, along with at least two years of related structural assembly experience. Experience with Solumina and Smarteam is preferred.
