Plainfield Correctional Facility is a medium-security institution located in Plainfield, Indiana, with a capacity of more than 1,600 incarcerated adult males. The facility provides mental health and substance use treatment services, along with multiple educational opportunities. Programming focuses on rehabilitation and preparing incarcerated individuals for re-entry. Staff work to create a supportive environment that encourages accountability and personal improvement. The dormitory-style housing promotes structure and routine, giving incarcerated individuals opportunities to develop skills and confidence to aid in reintegration.
As a Stores Clerk at the Plainfield Correctional Facility, you will perform a wide variety of tasks in the overall operation of the commissary. Your work involves stocking, disbursing, and controlling goods and supplies for incarcerated individuals. This includes transporting supplies from the warehouse to the commissary and supervising incarcerated individuals in assisting with these tasks. The role is designed to ensure the efficient flow of goods while maintaining a secure and organized environment.
Your day will involve authorizing the accuracy of all orders received in the storeroom and managing goods received. You will contact vendors regarding partial shipments or misorders and maintain detailed inventory records of items ordered. A key part of your responsibilities includes evaluating and recognizing record-keeping or storage procedures as necessary, ensuring proper storage and rotation of stock for perishable items. You may also make recommendations on the purchase of new equipment for the warehouse and oversee the assembly of equipment received in "knocked down" condition. Additionally, you will ensure the security of incarcerated individuals assigned to the warehouse.
