The Sterile Processing Technician I plays a critical role in supporting patient safety and surgical efficiency within the operating room environment. This position serves as the backbone of the Central Services department, ensuring that all surgical instruments, trays, and equipment are meticulously cleaned, decontaminated, sterilized, and distributed to nursing and surgical teams. The role is essential for maintaining the timely turnover of surgical suites and maximizing resource utilization across varied surgical services.
In this position, you will manage the full lifecycle of surgical instruments, from the segregation of used items to the final inspection and storage of sterile packs. You will work closely with O.R. staff to provide specialty equipment for complex procedures, assist with room preparation, and handle the processing of delicate instruments such as bronchoscopes and laparoscopes. Your work directly impacts the safety of patients, staff, and visitors by adhering to strict infection control protocols and universal precautions.
You will be part of a dedicated team focused on sterility control and quality assurance. The role requires active participation in departmental meetings, in-service programs, and quality assurance activities to stay current with industry trends. Collaboration is key, as you will interact with various departments to ensure accurate supply distribution, manage inventory levels, and maintain a safe, orderly work environment.

Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) by the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) Or Registered Central Service Technician (RCST) by International Association of Healthcare Central Services Materiel Management (IAHCSMM). Post high school coursework in management.
