General Motors is driven by a vision of a world with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions, and Zero Congestion. We embrace the responsibility to lead the change that will make our world better, safer, and more equitable for all. Our diverse team of employees brings collective passion for engineering, technology, and design to transform mobility. We are looking for adventure-seekers and imaginative thought leaders to help us realize this future.
This position serves as a Level 8 Staff Software Engineer, backfilling a senior technical leadership scope focused on Android Automotive and 3D visualization for ADAS HMI experiences. You will operate with broad latitude in a complex environment, defining system architecture and decomposing ambiguous product requirements to drive multi-team execution.
In this role, you will lead the architecture, design, and delivery of software that spans Android Automotive UI, services, SoC middleware, and vehicle signal inputs. You will own complex workstreams from concept through production release, translating ambiguous safety and system requirements into practical software designs. The day-to-day involves driving cross-functional alignment with ADAS algorithms, perception, infotainment, and vehicle integration partners, while establishing engineering practices that raise quality across codebases.
You will be the technical expert responsible for the signal-to-pixel path, resolving complex issues involving rendering latency, memory pressure, and concurrency. Beyond technical execution, you will mentor senior and mid-level engineers on Android Automotive architecture and 3D rendering trade-offs, communicating technical direction and risks clearly to engineering leadership.
Applicants in the recruitment process may be required to successfully complete role-related assessments and/or a pre-employment screening prior to beginning employment. For more details on our approach, visit How we Hire.
