This position serves as a primary nurse and total patient caregiver, providing comprehensive nursing care and services to patients and their families. The role is designed to function as a resource nurse, offering direction to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and nursing assistive personnel while delegating care in strict adherence to legal, regulatory guidelines, and organizational policies.
As a preceptor and charge nurse, you will utilize professional nursing judgment to carry out prescribed medical orders and apply the nursing process to deliver high-quality care. You will be responsible for verifying staff competency, teaching specialized nursing tasks, and ensuring the adequacy of care when delegating duties. This role embodies the Maui Health Vision, Model, and Values, adapting to the dynamic needs of the healthcare environment.
The position may require assignment to different cost centers or work locations on a shift-by-shift basis to meet fluctuating patient care requirements. Success in this role demands strong adaptability, change management skills, and the ability to prioritize effectively in diverse clinical settings.

To be considered for this role, candidates must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and hold a valid Registered Nurse License in Hawaii at the time of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers certification is also required.
While experience in the specific specialty area is preferred, candidates with one year of experience or those who complete a formal course in the specialty area within the designated timeframe will be considered. Familiarity with electronic medical records and coursework in basic EKGs are advantageous.
