The Substation Test Leadership role serves as a critical pillar within PG&E's Strategy & Growth business unit, ensuring the safety and reliability of the electric service across our vast service territory. This position is dedicated to leading teams responsible for the testing and commissioning of protection and control systems within transmission lines and T&D substations. The incumbent acts as a guardian of operational integrity, overseeing complex projects and interconnections while ensuring strict adherence to NERC compliance, regulatory standards, and rigorous safety accountability models.
In this capacity, you will not only manage the technical execution of substation testing but also foster a culture of safety and precision. The role involves overseeing teams working on specific regional projects or deploying them to larger, complex initiatives throughout the service territory. Your leadership ensures that maintenance and construction practices for protection and control equipment meet the highest quality expectations, preparing the grid for both routine operations and emergency situations.
This position operates on a hybrid work model and is open to candidates residing within PG&E's service territory. The role supports a wide range of locations across California, from major metropolitan areas like San Francisco and Los Angeles to rural communities, allowing for flexibility in how you engage with the teams and projects you lead.

Master's Degree in Engineering, Business Management, or Project Management. Certificate of completion of Apprenticeship in the occupation of Electrical Technician. PMP certification. Lean Six Sigma (LSS) certification. P.E. license. Knowledge of IBEW represented employees' contract. Experience in Substation, Grid Operations, Automation, Protection, or Project Management.
