About the Role
As a Speech Therapist, you will serve as a vital resource within our interdisciplinary team, collaborating with individuals, families, case holders, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to enhance care and outcomes. This role is designed for a professional who is passionate about supporting both children and adults, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Developmental Disabilities, and Severe Emotional Disturbance.
In this position, you will apply therapeutic techniques to address a wide range of communication needs, from speech intelligibility and swallowing disorders to cognitive communication and social pragmatics. You will work across various settings, including internal programs, residential facilities, and community locations, adapting your approach to meet the unique needs of each person served. Beyond clinical treatment, you will act as a trainer and resource for staff, developing learning materials and adaptive communication devices to maximize independence.
Working Environment
This role involves working in diverse environments, from clinical offices to community sites and residential settings. You will be required to drive regularly in all weather conditions to reach service locations. The position demands the ability to interact effectively with individuals and families who may face challenges such as communicable diseases, hostility, or aggression, requiring tact, diplomacy, and strong professional boundaries.
