The Speech Language Pathologist serves as a vital support for eligible students, delivering ongoing speech and language services alongside targeted intervention strategies. This position is dedicated to ensuring that every student receives the specialized care necessary to meet their Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals.
In this role, you will act as a bridge between therapy and the classroom. You will collaborate closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, RTI, ESL, and general education colleagues to plan and implement activities that enhance oral and written language skills. Beyond direct therapy, you will serve as a liaison to ensure the seamless implementation of established IEPs and coordinate with outside therapy companies to align speech, occupational, and physical therapy services.
A key aspect of this position involves maintaining rigorous standards for documentation. You will manage speech and language special education records and documentation under the direction of the Executive Director of Accountability & Specialized Services (EDASS). This includes conducting comprehensive testing, evaluations, and re-evaluations, as well as participating in ARD committee meetings to determine student progress and readiness for the termination of services.
The role requires a balance of desk work and active engagement with students. While performing duties, you will regularly sit, stand, walk, and reach. The position involves frequent communication, requiring the ability to speak effectively before groups of constituents or employees. Physical demands include the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds occasionally. A reliable means of transportation is essential to perform these duties successfully.
