This position serves as a vital support within the Dallas ISD special education framework, dedicated to fostering the academic and personal growth of students with diverse needs. The role exists to bridge the gap between individual student requirements and the broader educational environment, ensuring that every learner receives a tailored and supportive experience.
In this capacity, you will collaborate closely with students, parents, and staff to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) through the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process. Your day-to-day involves designing and delivering instructional, therapeutic, or skill development programs that reflect a deep understanding of student learning styles. You will work cooperatively with classroom teachers to modify regular curricula, assist special education students in general education settings, and manage student behavior in accordance with established IEP guidelines.
Beyond the classroom, you will play a key role in community engagement by sharing the responsibility of interpreting educational programs during open houses and PTA meetings. The position requires maintaining a classroom environment conducive to learning while managing physical, social, and emotional development. You will also be responsible for conducting ongoing assessments, compiling detailed reports, and ensuring strict compliance with federal, state, district, and school regulations.
This is a campus-based position where regular and punctual attendance is essential. The work environment typically features a moderate noise level. Travel throughout the district is an integral part of the job, and remote work or alternate work arrangements are not available for this role. Success in this position requires the flexibility to adapt to the challenges of a rapidly changing educational landscape and a commitment to staying current with professional developments.
