As the leader of the health care team, this Registered Nurse position is dedicated to providing professional nursing care within the Labor & Delivery (L&D) environment. The role is designed to uphold the Medical Center's Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan by delivering high-quality, effective clinical practice. You will serve as a vital link in the care continuum, ensuring that every patient and family member receives dignity, respect, and compassionate support throughout their journey.
This position requires a flexible mindset to adapt to changing systems while championing new ideas and leading the team through necessary changes. You will be expected to demonstrate professional behavior, effectively delegate tasks, and foster a collaborative environment where accountability and problem-solving thrive. The core of this role involves guiding the nursing process—from assessment and planning to implementation and evaluation—ensuring that care plans are multidisciplinary, culturally specific, and tailored to the unique needs of each patient.
Beyond clinical duties, you will act as a resource, preceptor, and mentor to new employees, registry staff, and students. Your day-to-day impact extends to creating an optimal patient care experience by actively listening to families, facilitating resource utilization, and ensuring clear communication regarding treatment and discharge instructions. You will also play a key role in departmental performance improvement, workplace safety, and fiscal responsibility, organizing work to minimize overtime and support systems improvement.
Candidates must possess specific certifications at the time of hire or within 12 months, including the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certificate and Kaiser PPSP for Nurses - Fetal Assessment Monitoring Certification. Successful completion of a KP L&D course (including basic fetal monitoring and NRP) or approved equivalent within the prior 12 months may substitute for the 1-year recent full-time equivalent experience requirement in L&D.
We are committed to a collaborative Labor-Management Partnership environment through unit-based teams. We view all team members as effective partners who are flexible, cooperative, and willing to assist one another. We treat all families of patients with courtesy, respect, kindness, and compassion, ensuring a clean, orderly, and functional work environment.
We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, fostering a culture where constructive confrontation of difficult situations is encouraged and accountability for one's actions is valued.
