About the Role
The Global Accounting Specialist serves as a critical partner in Pfizer's accounting, reporting, and internal controls framework, with a specialized focus on benefit-related areas. This includes managing complex processes such as restructuring and Board of Directors compensation. The role is essential for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of period-end close activities, SEC reporting, and audit compliance in strict adherence to U.S. GAAP and Pfizer's internal policies.
You will operate at the intersection of finance and operations, collaborating cross-functionally with Divisional Controllers, People Experience, Corporate Treasury, Core Operations, and external partners like KPMG. Your work ensures that complex benefit-related transactions are recorded, reconciled, and reported accurately. The position demands a high degree of autonomy, requiring you to manage multiple priorities and resolve moderately complex problems with minimal supervision, particularly during peak periods like month-end and quarter-end closes.
Beyond transactional accuracy, this role offers the opportunity to drive continuous improvement. You will act as a subject matter expert for global initiatives and transformational projects, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiencies and apply new ideas to the control environment. Additionally, you will contribute to team growth by reviewing the activities of junior colleagues and providing informal coaching.
Work Environment & Location
This is a hybrid role based in Tampa, FL, requiring an average of 2.5 days of onsite presence per week, or as business needs dictate. While the position is primarily based in the U.S., candidates should expect minimal travel to other locations to support project activities, business meetings, and workshops.

Requirements
- verifiedBachelors degree in accounting or finance discipline
- verifiedMinimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- verifiedPractical experience of US GAAP and Statutory Accounting
- verifiedCPA or international equivalent (ACCA)
- verifiedEnglish proficiency
- verifiedMasters degree preferred
- verifiedPublic accounting experience preferred
- verifiedAdvanced SAP & HFM experience preferred
- verifiedInternational experience preferred
- verifiedProficiency with Microsoft Office, with strong emphasis on Excel
