The Accounts Receivable Follow Up Specialist is a critical component of the financial operations team, dedicated to resolving outstanding balances with third-party payers. This role exists to secure accurate and timely adjudication of claims, directly supporting the organization's goal of optimizing accounts receivable performance. Specialists focus on reducing aged accounts (particularly those over 90 days), improving cash collection rates, and resolving complex denials to ensure the financial health of the practice.
In this position, you will manage daily workflows involving account status checks, payer communications, and the resolution of claim denials. Your day-to-day involves navigating EMR systems to document patient account notes and payment statuses, coordinating with external departments for missing medical records, and executing appeals or rebills to bring accounts to successful closure. You will serve as the bridge between clinical staff, patients, and insurance companies, utilizing independent judgment to analyze repetitive denial patterns and report them for corrective action.
Candidates will be evaluated based on their experience in healthcare settings and proficiency in insurance billing guidelines. The selection process focuses on identifying individuals with strong problem-solving abilities, accurate typing skills, and a deep understanding of CMS, TennCare, and Medicaid requirements.
