We are a thriving nonprofit network of free, public charter schools open to all students. Together with families and communities, we create joyful, academically excellent schools that prepare students with the skills and confidence to pursue the paths they choose—college, career, and beyond—so they can lead fulfilling lives and build a more just world.
Our student community consists of over 7,000 elementary, middle, and high school students across East Palo Alto, Oakland, San Francisco, San Lorenzo, San Jose, Redwood City, and Stockton. We serve a diverse population where 79% qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, 23% are multilingual learners, and 10% have special needs. We strive to cultivate a representative team of teachers and leaders that reflect our students' diversity.
As a Special Education Teacher at KIPP, you play a key role in bringing to life the academic and cultural visions of our schools. You will lead and manage the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEP) in accordance with state and federal law, providing specialized academic instruction and behavior intervention services through various models including co-teaching, push-in, pull-out, and one-to-one support.
Your day involves collaborating closely with the school's Leadership Team, Instructional Coaches, and general education colleagues to ensure students are learning and growing. You will develop daily and long-term lesson plans that align with students' individualized needs and KIPP's mission, while collecting and analyzing data to monitor progress and inform instruction. Beyond academics, you will implement Social Emotional Learning lessons and Restorative Practices to create a joyful, inclusive classroom community where every student feels safe to learn and achieve.
We are deeply committed to creating an anti-racist school community. As part of this mission, you will engage in ongoing development to reflect on your own identities and experiences, analyzing school systems and culture to address the needs of our community. You will be supported by professional development, coaching, and collaboration to continue growing in your instructional practices.
