As a Special Education Teacher with the Lee County Board of Education, you will serve as a vital link in the educational journey of students with diverse needs. Your primary mission is to teach life skills, basic communication, and literacy, seamlessly integrating these lessons with the general education curriculum. This role is designed for educators who are dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where every student can thrive.
In this position, you will work closely with students, parents, and colleagues to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Your day-to-day impact involves creating functional learning environments, utilizing assistive technology, and providing specialized instruction tailored to individual student needs. You will also serve as a key resource for general education teachers supporting mainstreamed students, ensuring a collaborative approach to student success.
Candidates must meet all employment criteria legally established by the Lee County Board of Education. A critical component of the hiring process includes a background check. Upon an offer of employment, selected candidates will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by both the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, in compliance with HB 402 ACT 99-361.
Successful candidates will be evaluated in accordance with the Board's policy on the evaluation of Professional Personnel. The position is offered as a nine-month contract (187 days), with salary determined by the board-approved salary schedule.
