The Special Education Instructional Coach serves as a key leader in strengthening instructional quality across Watertown Public Schools. While the role focuses primarily on supporting elementary special education programming, it also leads the induction, mentoring, and development of new special education teachers across all schools. This position is designed to ensure high-quality, rigorous instruction for students with special needs in both inclusive and substantially separate settings.
The Coach works collaboratively with building leaders, general and special education teachers, related service providers, and behavioral and mental health professionals. The goal is to foster a culture of continuous improvement where new educators are supported through structured induction and experienced teachers receive job-embedded coaching, including lesson modeling, co-planning, and co-teaching.
