As the leader of the health care team, this Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process in accordance with established standards of care, policies, and procedures. The role is designed to demonstrate performance consistent with the Medical Center's Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan. You will remain flexible to changing systems, ensuring quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice while treating co-workers, patients, families, and all members of the health care team with dignity and respect.
You will serve as a pivotal leader within the unit, delegating tasks appropriately and demonstrating accountability. This position requires you to champion new ideas, lead others through the change process, and utilize effective communication strategies to resolve issues. As a mentor, preceptor, and resource, you will orient and coach new employees, registry staff, and students, fostering a collaborative Labor-Management Partnership environment through unit-based teams.
Your day involves developing and contributing to individualized plans of care that reflect multidisciplinary planning, consultation, and education. You will monitor patient progress, revise care plans based on ongoing evaluations, and ensure optimal pain control and patient comfort. A significant portion of your time is dedicated to ensuring patient safety, including medication administration, fall prevention, and infection control.
You will actively listen to the needs of patients and families, providing information in an understandable way to ensure comprehension. Whether managing complex clinical outcomes or facilitating discharge planning, you will collaborate with physicians and other team members to discuss findings and progress. You will also participate in departmental performance improvement activities and maintain a clean, orderly, and functional work environment.
Candidates must possess a valid California Registered Nurse License, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Specific unit training, including Basic Arrhythmia and Ventilator training, is required. Applicants should have one year of recent full-time equivalent experience in a Critical Care, DOU, or SDU setting, or have completed an approved equivalent course within the last 12 months.
