Sustainability Innovation

We leverage sustainability as a platform for growth. Our Republic Services Polymer Center is the nation's first integrated plastics recycling facility, processing rigid plastics to promote true bottle-to-bottle circularity. Additionally, we are expanding our landfill gas-to-energy projects, currently operating 70 with plans to reach 115 by 2028.

About the Role

The Sorter plays a critical role in our recycling operations, ensuring that incoming recyclable materials are safely and efficiently processed so that outbound commodities are acceptable for sale to various brokers or mills. This position is essential to maintaining the quality of our recycling streams and supporting our mission to advance circularity.\n In this role, you will be the first line of defense in material recovery, working on the front lines of our recycling centers. You will sort and segregate recoverable materials such as aluminum, plastic, glass, and paper from incoming waste, depositing them safely into appropriate chutes. The role requires vigilance in inspecting incoming loads for unacceptable waste and removing items as required. You will also collaborate with equipment operators to communicate about special waste loads or those requiring unique attention. As a team member, you are expected to assist colleagues with heavy or bulky items and adhere strictly to all company safety policies, including the authority to stop the conveyor belt in emergency situations.
