Epic Special Education Staffing is seeking a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to support students with special needs in educational settings. This role is vital for ensuring equitable access to instruction, activities, and school services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. You will serve as the primary communication bridge between students, staff, families, and peers, facilitating meaningful interactions in classrooms, small groups, and one-on-one settings.
In this position, you will not only interpret between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English but also adapt your communication style, register, and mode to meet the unique needs of each student as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEP). Whether supporting ESY classes, related services, or social interactions, your goal is to convey both academic content and classroom dynamics accurately, empowering students to fully participate in their educational journey.
Epic offers a collaborative and inclusive culture where interpreters are empowered to innovate and make a meaningful impact on student success. We value professionals who are committed to ethical practice, confidentiality, and continuous improvement. As part of our team, you will contribute insights on communication access during team meetings and training sessions, helping to shape strategies that enhance student engagement and understanding.
Interested candidates should submit their application through our official portal. The selection process typically includes a review of credentials, followed by an interview to assess ASL proficiency, educational interpreting experience, and cultural fit within our team. We look for individuals who demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and a passion for special education.
