This position offers short-term, temporary assignments within the Maintenance, Custodial, or Grounds departments at Chaffey College. The role is essential to supporting the daily operations of the campus, ensuring a safe, clean, and functional environment for students, employees, and the broader Chaffey community.
Successful candidates must be ready to work in-person on campus. The specific duties depend on the assigned track:
Maintenance: Focuses on the routine repair and maintenance of plumbing, electrical systems, fixtures, drywall, and painting. Responsibilities also include monitoring district systems and equipment.
Custodial: Involves maintaining general facilities through dusting, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming. Duties include restocking supplies, sanitizing waste containers, cleaning restrooms and classrooms, and assisting with furniture moves and equipment setups.
Grounds: Centers on lawn, shrub, and planter maintenance, as well as irrigation system support. Responsibilities include athletic field preparation, tool maintenance, and general clean-up such as raking, trash removal, and gutter cleaning.
Depending on the specific position, incumbents may be exposed to industrial cleaning chemicals, pest control agents, paint fumes, and noise from machinery. The role may involve strenuous physical work, including stooping, lifting, and digging, often in unfavorable weather conditions. There is potential exposure to fire hazards, security issues in isolated buildings, and unsafe or unsanitary conditions that require correction.
